M_HK416A5

Hey guys, it's been a minute since we've done a blog. This time we are going to be talking about one of the bespoke builds that we've made. It's a sort of custom HK416A5? We reused the rail, receivers, buffer tube, and shell. That's where the similarities end. The base is a VFC HK416A5. VFC's are known to have extremely realistic replica's. To be frank I was kind of lucky on this one, I was trying to find a platform to build for an event, and low and behold we had a spare HK416A5 that we bought to take the butt plate off for another customer's build haha. I grabbed it and got to work.

Outer Barrel

I'm always very adamant about doing a honey badger setup, or at least getting a suppressor to fit snug to the rail. I enjoy a nice aesthetic to a build which this is to me, but getting that done was sort of a hassle on this thing. Firstly we had to remove the mock gas block which is shown through the rail. It's airsoft we don't need a mock bolt even if it is for realism. Now with the removal of the mock bolt I was able to fit a shorter outer barrel, 9.5" to be exact.

With the addition of that outer barrel, this enabled me to get the suppressor RIGHT on the rail. Normally it would be a little to close for my liking but with the addition of a O-Ring, the fitment is damn near perfect in my opinion.

Hop-Up and Inner Barrel

Of course it being one of our builds we had to give it the special sauce, our UA x Maxxpro M4A Hop-Up unit, combined with our Maxxpro Hop-Up Spacers, EMG Flat Hopped Bucking, and Lapped UA R-Hop'd Prometheus 6.03 inner barrel. For this specific event there was going to be a lot of mid range engagements, which a standard VFC HK416A5 inner barrel length might be a bit to short for. So I decided to do the good ol' sweat tactic of longer barrel hidden by the suppressor!

Yes we normally don't do this, however since it was one of my builds that we understood was going to be bespoke, I went ahead and did it anyways. The cylinder in here is a 3/4 ported cylinder which a 363mm inner barrel was within our acceptable length limits for that type of port, however it is on the longer end, but that allowed me to get the little more stability and accuracy that I was looking for.

Stock

For the stock I went ahead with our in-house favorite, the MFT Bus Stock. I personally like this stock for a couple of reasons, the first being it's slim profile. These HK's already come with a slim profile stock which I like, however you cannot fit any reasonable battery within it. It's simply just too small to fit anything good in. These MFT stocks, with a little modification, allow you to fit a 1300 mAh 11.1v 45C battery in with ease. This allows you to play normally for the whole day with no issues.

The modification is very simple, there's normally a small plastic piece that separates the upper and lower quadrans of this stock, you take a Dremel and grind out that small plastic lip to allow wires to easily pass through. This space on the bottom of the MFT stock is PERFECT for these brick LiPo batteries. I bought this stock, and kept it through every rifle I've built, it's just too convenient and good looking.

Optic

In airsoft there are very few optics that actually have an impact on gameplay. I'd wager that anything past 4x becomes rather useless in the sport. With that being said my choice of optic would be a 1-7x LPVO. I will not say the name of this brand of LPVO because in my opinion it isn't the best, but it gets the job done. I think a LPVO is a perfect fit. It has variable zoom so I can adjust to the exact zoom that I'd like without being forced to look through either a 1x or a 4x, and looks sleek! Honestly I think LPVO's are the best choice of optic's for any carbine/DMR build in airsoft!

Internals

Now let's get down to the nitty gritty. Starting from now we are slowly going to release more of our kept tips and tricks for teching a gearbox so I wont go into extreme detail just more of a parts list. With this bad boy I got the following going on: Modified Guarder Tapper Plate, Maxx 3/4's Cylinder with a Lonex Cylinder Head (NO SORBO PAD) and a Lonex POM Piston Head. Also have a VFC Air Nozzle, as well as a AOE corrected SHS Piston and Piston Rack. Aside from the compression assembly, SHS 18:1 Gears Short Stroked by 3, ASG ARL with a upgraded ARL Spring (I honestly don't know which one I just needed a stronger one that what the ASG one came with so I grabbed on that felt a bit stiffer), and a Perun V2 Hybrid with the Perun Clicker. I put this mosfet setup on everything I build because I LOVE THAT CLICKER! Final touch I got a Maxx Advanced Adjustable Speed Trigger. For the motor I went with a 27K Warhead Base, I would've gone with the 35K but we ran out of stock so 27K was the best I could do, luckily I couldn't care less about the full auto, the semi-auto response with a little pre-cocking was still just as crisp as I like it.

I love being able to set the the trigger and clicker to simulate a single stage trigger off a proper AR trigger box which this setup allows me to do. Along with the realistic feel, this thing reached the distance I needed and I OFTEN found myself out sniping most DMR player on the field that day just because everything was setup so well and running smooth. All in all it's honestly a pretty sick rifle, happy I was able to build it and everything went perfectly within our expectations with the build process and performance!
